The Republican Party in this county consists of members from each of our twenty-four townships, five unincorporated communities, and twelve cities, including the twelve precincts of the City of Willmar.
Our legislators include Senator Andrew Lang (R) SD17, "Anything here?"Â HD17AÂ and Representative Dave Baker (R) HD17B.

Who Represents Us?

Michelle Fischbach (R, CD7)
Michelle Fischbach was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020 representing MN-CD7.
Michelle Fischbach grew up in Woodbury, MN where she graduated from Woodbury High School. Michelle attended the College of St. Benedict, St. Cloud State University, and William Mitchell College of Law.
In 1994, Michelle was the first woman elected to the Paynesville City Council. Michelle was first elected to the State Senate in 1996. Since then, Michelle has served as President of the Minnesota Senate, Chair of the Minnesota Senate Higher Education Committee, and as the 49th Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota.
She and her husband, Scott, have two adult children and six grandchildren and live in the northeastern part of Kandiyohi County.
Senator Andrew Lang was elected to the Minnesota State Senate in 2016, representing communities in Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Renville, and Swift counties.
Andrew Lang grew up in Kandiyohi County and graduated from Willmar High School in 1997. After high school, he attended Ridgewater College before eventually graduating from St. Cloud State University with a bachelor’s degree in aviation science and management.
In 2002, Lang joined the Minnesota Army National Guard and became a commissioned officer in 2003; he currently serves as a major and a logistics officer in the 34th Aviation Brigade. Major Lang served in Balad, Iraq from April 2007 to August 2008, and participated in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Inherent Resolve in 2014.
Senator Lang, his wife, and his two children make their home in Olivia.


Dave Baker was born in Aitkin, MN. He lived in International Falls where he managed his first business and started his family. To the Baker's were born three children. The Baker's moved to Willmar in 1994 and continue to work in the hospitality industry. Dave's wife, Mary, founded Baker Hospitalities in 1999 and has enjoyed running the business. In 2014, Rep. Baker was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives and is assigned to the Behavioral Health Policy Division
Workforce, and Business Development Finance and Policy committees. Rep. Baker is the chief author of over 20 bills.
